Formerly a Victorian public bath house, we rejuvenated this iconic landmark to house a progressive community of big-thinkers and world-changers. The central hub, an architectural marvel built into the original walls of this iconic building, is home to an impressive range of private workspaces designed to nurture creativity and growth. OUR HERITAGE
Our history is deeply rooted in everything we do here at Ashton Old Baths. In Victorian England, the Baths were built to bring a safe and sociable environment for communities in Greater Manchester to come together. In its lifetime, the Baths have been used for a host of functions and events, now standing as one of the most stunning Innovation Centres in the country. Together with Tameside MBC, we have restored, revitalised and transformed this iconic space – continuing the great legacy of Ashton Old Baths for years to come.
THE DATA CENTRE
Our centre hosts the new Data Centre and is the heart of the Ashton Old Baths redevelopment. The Ashton Old Baths Data Centre was successful in receiving a global award during the 2021 DCD Global Data Centre Awards. The Data Centre hosts the Council and NHS systems but is also available with a range of rack sizes from a quarter to full heigh for commercial requirements.

After remaining closed for 40 years, deteriorating and suffering vandalism, AOB was acquired by PlaceFirst in 2014, and working with Tameside MBC plans to revive the building to its former glory were put into place. Â Over a period of three years, Â the centre underwent a sympathetic yet innovative renovation, led by architect collective MCAU. It re-opened to customers in May 2017, fast becoming a hotbed of creative and digital entrepreneurs in Ashton-under-Lyne.

Ashton Old Baths transformation was funded by a £1.7 million Heritage Lottery Fund grant, £1 million of European Regional Development Fund and Tameside MBC’s investment into one of its most iconic landmarks.
